Red Bull team boss Christian Horner claims the controversy surrounding Max Verstappen’s 2021 title win “has gone completely over his head”.
Red Bull has been talking about the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix controversy almost as much as they did about Max Verstappen’s 2021 title win, as it continues to attract constant interest from the media.
Not only did Red Bull’s Christian Horner and Helmut Marko try to defend Verstappen’s win on numerous occasions, but the Dutch driver himself had to repeat over and over why he thinks he ‘deserves’ the title in countless interviews.
Well, according to Horner, Verstappen is actually unaware of people questioning his title win.
“I think it’s gone completely over his head,” Horner said on BBC Breakfast.
“He doesn’t watch the BBC. He was delighted to get that first world championship against such a strong opponent.

“I think that’s what made it so intense.”
Horner went on to say he believes the rivalry between Hamilton and Verstappen will continue in 2022.
“I think the rivalry between those two has been so intense. I think you might see a couple of other drivers come into that fray as well.
“It was epic last year and if that continues I think there’s going to be some fantastic races next season.
“The sport has never had so much coverage and so much support – it’s great to see,” concluded Red Bull’s team boss.
