Former IndyCar and NASCAR driver Danica Patrick says Lewis Hamilton “obviously wants to do everything he can to win”, but “he knows that he’s leaving” and it “might be making things different inside the team”.
There’s been a lot of talk lately about the situation at Mercedes following Lewis Hamilton’s decision to depart the team at the end of 2024.
While both parties are assuring everyone that everything is ok in their relationship, a certain portion of fans have started accusing Mercedes of disrespecting Lewis, even sabotaging his car.
Ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, former IndyCar and NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has given her opinion on the relationship.
“If I’m going to guess, I’m sure he obviously wants to do everything he can to win,” Patrick said.

“But he knows that he’s leaving, and I’m sure that might be making things different inside the team.
“There’s no way around the fact that he’s leaving, and they can’t share everything. Who knows?
“But that’s the normal way of it when you’re leaving, so I’m guessing that he wants to make the best of every situation.
“However, there is always that contingency in his head of: ‘But I’m leaving,’” she concluded.
