Hamilton and Russell react to Emilia Romagna GP cancellation

Today F1, the FIA and the organisers announced the cancellation of the Emilia Romanga Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell give their first reaction.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix has been cancelled due to heavy rain that caused flooding in the region.

After the news was announced, Lewis Hamilton took to Instagram to give his first comments.

“Hoping everyone in Emilia Romagna is able to stay safe and look out for each other right now,” the Briton wrote.

“Thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy and the amazing emergency services working on the ground.

“I know we all understand that safety comes first. I can’t wait to see you all at the next race,” Hamilton concluded.

George Russell also posted a message of support for the affected region.

“Sorry for the fans that this weekend’s race has been cancelled but the safety of everyone involved always has to come first,” George wrote.

“Wishing all the best to everyone in the Emilia-Romagna region and surrounding areas that have been affected by these floods,” he concluded.
