Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Toto Wolff give their comments on the Zandvoort track with Wolff saying the onboards make you “pee in your pants”.
Formula 1 has returned to Zandvoort for the first time since 1985 and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff loves it.
“Speaking to Lewis and Valtteri, they say it’s a proper track,” the Austrian said.
“You need to build up because it’s challenging, it’s fast, mistakes are being penalised, as they should, nobody is talking about track limits, and isn’t that wonderful.
“I think it’s a blueprint for all the new tracks that come up to look at the classical tracks. They can still race, and we are still reaching the same safety standards as all the new tracks.
“So let’s look at all these fantastic venues and take the best out of them, and when you look at the onboards you pee in your pants.”
With Lewis and Max starting the race side by side, Wolff gives his comments on the prospect of another wheel-to-wheel battle.
“I think the two protagonists will start side by side more often this season, and I don’t think we can really assume it will always end up in an incident.
“They are both among the best ones and they know that every win counts and they will do it fair and square but hard.
“In a way, we need to stop referring to the Silverstone incident because we are going to do this another five times this year when they are side by side.

“We don’t need to refer back to him [Lewis] on how to drive or what is at stake because he knows best,” concluded Wolff.
In the post-qualifying press conference Lewis gave his comments on the track.
“I think it’s a great track,” the Briton said.
“I like the old school circuits way better. I would just go along with all the other original circuits: Suzuka, Silverstone and Spa.
“They’re the kind of the OG circuits and this one’s been phenomenal to drive. I personally like that type of run off area.
“As Max was saying, it’s more old school and I think today people have been safe but it’s like the olden days in the sense that it doesn’t reward mistakes and that’s how they should be,” concluded Lewis.
Although it’s not Valtteri Bottas’ favourite track in the calendar, he also enjoys the “old school” track.
“It is high on my list as a track,” the Finn said.
“I can’t say it’s the best one on the calendar but one of the good ones, for sure. And with the barriers, you tend to worry about them once you go off and you’re waiting for the impact.
“So you don’t really think about it but as a type of track, old school, I really enjoy it,” concluded Valtteri.
