Lewis Hamilton noticed the plane that carried a message of support for him over Zandvoort on Friday, and says it was “awesome to see”.
On Friday, Lewis Hamilton fan Neil Steele chartered a plane for £1,600 to fly a banner with a message of support for the seven-time champion over Circuit Zandvoort.
The plane flew over the circuit ahead of first free practice with a message that read: “7X WDC. Simply lovely #TeamLH.”
At the post Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying press conference Lewis was asked if he saw TeamLH fans at Zandvoort, and he immediately commented on the plane.
“Well, I haven’t really looked necessarily too much at the crowds, apart from when we just came in there and we saw the whole pit straight completely full,” the Briton said.
“But I know yesterday there was a plane that went up with a team LH fan. It was awesome to see so I definitely know that I’ve got team LH Netherlands here.”

Hamilton went on to comment on how much fun it is for him to drive at Zandvoort.
“But in general, the response from everyone having me here has been great, even just driving in has been really pleasant, so I’m really grateful. And what a track, whoo!
“It is absolutely incredible driving this track, with the banked corners and today was one of the sessions that I have enjoyed the most, qualifying.
“Qualifying here is just phenomenal with a light car. So close at the end, but obviously yesterday didn’t help.
“But I’m glad we got back to where we needed to be today,” Lewis concluded.
