Hamilton on Tifosi’s reaction to his pass on Perez: “Next year is going to be nuts”

Lewis Hamilton says the fans at Imola “have been amazing”, and adds “it’s been surreal to see Italian fans, knowing where I’m going to be next year”.

At the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton raced in front of the Italian fans for the first time since it was announced that he will be joining Ferrari next year.

Throughout the whole weekend, the fans have been cheering Lewis on, but when he passed Red Bull’s Sergio Perez at Tamburello, the roar of the crowd was deafening.

Afterwards, Lewis was asked to comment on Tifosi’s reaction.

“I guess they were excited because they don’t see a Red Bull being overtaken very often!” the Briton told DAZN.

“The fans have been amazing. It’s been surreal to see Italian fans, knowing where I’m going to be next year.

“Next year is going to be nuts,” Hamilton concluded.
