Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas give their comments on the Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying and look ahead at the Sprint Race tomorrow.

At the Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying Lewis Hamilton managed to get P1 for the first time since the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Although the Briton has to serve a five-place grid penalty in Sunday’s main race, he is happy with how today went.

“It’s not easy to follow, but I guess Max is obviously starting from pole now, so it’s going to be very hard to catch him, but I’ll do my best to try and get through the field,” Lewis said.

“I don’t know what tomorrow will hold. I think the weather will be perhaps better which makes it a bit more difficult for everyone but I feel really grateful.

“It’s crazy because it has been a while [since he set a fastest lap in quali] so it just feels like the first.”

Lewis also thanked his team for doing an amazing job even though they are in the middle of the last triple-header of the 2021 season.

“Just a big thank you to the team because they’ve been working flat out.

“It’s been so hard coming from the last race for everyone at the race, going from one race to the other, taking the car apart and rebuilding it.

“Just the man-hours is insane but today was a really good qualifying session. I’m super happy with it.

“We’ve got the penalty, but we give it everything we’ve got,” concluded the seven-time champion.

His team-mate Valtteri Bottas will start the Sprint Race from P3, right behind Max Verstappen.

“It was quite tricky, I struggled with quite a lot of understeer and lost quite a lot of time in Turn 1 and 2. So not an easy qualifying,” the Finn explained.

“I think for the race it’s OK, yes. Obviously, it would have been nice to be ahead of Max. but there’s still plenty of things we can do and I think perhaps make a bit better for the race,” Valtteri concluded.
