After he got eliminated in Q1 of Chinese Grand Prix Qualifying, Lewis Hamilton says he doesn’t “blame anything on the team”, and adds: “Not my best qualifying laps.”

Chinese Grand Prix Qualifying was Lewis Hamilton’s worst quali session of the year. Unfortunately, the Briton was eliminated in Q1 and he ultimately finished the session in P18.

Afterwards, he said he takes the blame for what happened.

“I don’t blame anything on the team… I think, not my best qualifying laps,” Hamilton said.

“S**t happens, you know. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don’t.

“This car is on a knife edge, as we know, so it can easily do what we’ve had. But I’ll have some fun from there.”

Lewis then explained what led to such a poor result.

“We made massive changes going into qualifying. We just wanted to experiment.

“So, George [Russell] decided to go one way, much different to what we had, because we worked pretty much with the same before.

“Then I went this other direction just to see if we can find something. It didn’t feel terrible.

“I just couldn’t stop the car in Turn 14,” the Briton concluded.
