Lewis Hamilton was leading the Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Race until about a halfway point, when he was easily overtaken by Max Verstappen. He explains why he “didn’t even put up a fight for Max”.

Lewis Hamilton started the Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Race from P2, but quickly overtook Lando Norris to take P1.

However, on lap nine a much faster Max Verstappen easily breezed through to ultimately win the race.

Ahead of the race, Lewis’ former team-mate said he should get his elbows out if a fight with Verstappen goes down.

“Close the door Lewis, then go aggressive… just properly close it. Pity to just let him through so easily,” Rosberg said.

Hamilton, of course, did not put up a fight against a much faster Verstappen, and afterwards he said he didn’t even consider it.

“I didn’t even put up a fight for Max because he was coming at a serious, serious pace advantage that I knew he would he would get me,” the Briton said.
