Lewis Hamilton was asked about the chances of Ferrari signing Adrian Newey, whether Mercedes should try to sign him, and if Newey was a part of his Ferrari negotiations.
Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was asked a series of questions on Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull and his future.
When asked what the chances are of Newey ending up at Ferrari, Lewis did not provide any details.
“I mean, I don’t know, we’ll see,” he said.
Asked whether the possibility of Newey joining Ferrari was mentioned as part of his negotiations with the Italian team earlier this year, Lewis said:
“I can’t tell you. I can’t tell you what was in the discussions.”
The journalists then wanted to know his opinion on whether Mercedes should try to sign Newey.

“I have no idea if they are trying,” he said.
“I don’t know who is trying, I can’t tell you.”
In the end, Lewis was asked if the prospect of Newey joining him at Ferrari gives him renewed hope that he can win his eighth F1 title.
“Right now nothing changes because nothing’s like… I don’t know what’s happening in the future.
“All I know is that I’m joining a team that’s massively enthusiastic and driven, and as I said, doing a great job now and have amazing history and there’s nothing really changed so far,” Hamilton concluded.
