After winning the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton says he’s “forever grateful to everyone at Mercedes and all our partners”, and “to all our incredible fans”.

After two and a half years of struggles, Lewis Hamilton finally won his first race since 2021 at the British Grand Prix.

Afterwards, a visibly emotional Hamilton was overjoyed.

“Since 2021, every day I’m getting up and fighting to train to put my mind to the task and work as hard as I can with this amazing team,“ the Briton said.

“It’s so tough I think for anyone, but I think the important thing is just how you continue to get up in this and you’re going to continue to dig deep even when you feel like you’re at the bottom of the barrel.

“There’s definitely been days between 2021 and here where I didn’t feel like I was good enough or whether I was going to get back to where I am today.

“But the important thing is that I had great people around me, who continued to support me and my team every time I turned up and seeing them putting in the effort really encouraged me to do the same thing.”

Lewis then praised the Mercedes team and his fans.

“This is my last race here at the British Grand Prix with this team. I wanted to win this so much for them because I love them and appreciate them so much.

“All the hard work they put in over these years. I’m forever grateful to everyone at Mercedes and all our partners. And to all our incredible fans. I could see you lap by lap.

“There’s no greater feeling to finish at the front here,” Hamilton concluded.

With this win, his ninth at Silverstone, Lewis has broken the record for most wins at a single circuit. He won one mora than Michael Schumacher.
