Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff were not present at the FIA Prize-Giving Gala, but James Allison and Valtteri Bottas were there to pick up the trophies.

Toto Wolff announced yesterday that neither him nor Lewis Hamilton would attend the FIA Prize-Giving Gala, while the team’s eighth Constructors’ Championship trophy would be collected by Chief Technical Officer James Allison.

Valtteri Bottas was also there to collect his trophy for finishing third in the championship, but he was late for the pre-event press conference due to a delayed flight.

When the time came to pick up the Constructors’ trophy, Allison gave a short speech.

“It’s a very, very difficult thing to win one championship, to do two quite remarkable, eight… words fail me,” the Briton said.

“It is a brilliant group of people who work tirelessly and I can’t stress enough what a massive pleasure it is to be able to pick up this trophy today after a championship of such quality.”

Allison also praised Red Bull for their performance throughout the season.

“[We’ve] had the pleasure of fighting like cats and dogs all year – they’re brilliant opponents. We get on each other’s t*ts a bit, but that’s how it should be!

“It was just a fantastic fight, so very grateful for that,” concluded Allison.

Lewis Hamilton was also awarded the FIA Personality of the Year award, and the presenters said the trophy would be mailed to him.
