Mercedes Technical Director Mike Elliott says Red Bull’s sidepods look “interesting”, so his team will “have a think” about them.
In Formula 1’s Barcelona Pre-Season Track Session reports, Mercedes Technical Director Mike Elliot talked about the team’s experiences in testing, and gave his comments on the ‘porpoising’ issue the 2022 cars are experiencing.
“It’s a problem we’re all facing,” Elliott said.
“The reality is we’ve just got to learn as quickly as we can. We’re doing as much testing as we can here [in Barcelona], and we’ll do a lot of simulation work back at the factory.
“It will be about how we either solve that, or how we deal with it and mitigate it in the first races.”

Interestingly Elliott also talked about the differences between various solutions the teams came up with for their cars, especially Red Bull’s sidepod design.
“The most visually different I think are the sidepods that Red Bull Racing have come up with.
“Looks interesting, so we’ll go and have a think about that,” concluded the Briton.
