Mercedes has announced they will not appeal Lewis Hamilton’s disqualification from the Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying.
After a long deliberation the FIA decided to disqualify Lewis Hamilton from Friday’s Qualifying due to his DRS exceeding the maximum allowed distance when opened.
It meant that the Briton had to start Saturday’s Sprint Qualifying Race from the back of the grid, although the qualified in P1 on Friday.
Mercedes has the right to appeal the ruling, but they announced they will not do so.
“We want to win these world championships on the race track,” the team wrote in their social media posts.

Well, in Sprint Quali they did just that, when Valtteri Bottas won the race ahead of Max Verstappen, while Hamilton cut through the field and got from P20 to P5 in 24 laps!
After the sprint race Toto Wolff congratulated Lewis over the team radio and sent a message to Red Bull and the FIA: “F*ck them all”.
To this Lewis responded with: “It’s not over yet”.
Although Lewis has now qualified in P5, he will start the race from P10 due to an engine related five-place grid penalty.
