Former Ferrari driver Mika Salo believes Lewis Hamilton “knows something that the rest of us do not yet know” about the Italian team.

Lewis Hamilton will be moving to Ferrari in 2025, and a lot of present and former F1 personalities are giving their two cents on the move.

Ferrari’s former driver Mika Salo is one of the observers who believes there is more to the move than meets the eye.

“I believe Hamilton knows something that the rest of us do not yet know,” Salo told Iltalehti newspaper.

“Whether it is related to the development of Ferrari’s car or the staff of the team, it is difficult to say.

“However, there must be a reason why he made the decision to move. In light of the current power balance in F1, it would otherwise make no sense.”

Salo then went on to say that, in light of recent turbulence within Red Bull, due to a misconduct investigation aimed at current team boss Christian Horner, some interesting staff switches could happen.

More specifically, the Finn believes Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey could possibly be one of the people willing to follow Lewis to the Italian team

“It’s hard to assess how much Hamilton’s arrival will impact Ferrari. Success involves so many other requirements than the driver.

“There are a lot of question marks in Red Bull’s situation at the moment, for example, and there is no other car designer like Adrian Newey.

“If Ferrari could sign him too, I think they would have a winning team again,” Salo concluded.
