Reports have been coming out saying that Adrian Newey and Max Verstappen are both set to hold talks with Mercedes about potentially joining the team.

After it was reported that Adrian Newey intends to leave Red Bull, rumours and speculation about his next destination have gone into overdrive.

Now, Motorsport Italy reports that Newey is set to hold talks with Mercedes following next weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.

Interestingly, F1 Insider has already reported that Max Verstappen’s camp is also set to hold talks with Mercedes in Miami and Imola.

According to this report, the talks will be held between Max, his father Jos and his manager Raymond Vermeulen on one side, and Mercedes F1 Team boss Toto Wolff, chairman of the board of management of Mercedes-Benz Group and Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius and INEOS chairman and CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe on the other.

Mercedes has also reportedly already approved a lucrative salary package for the Dutch driver.

It will be interesting to see if there is any truth to these reports, but with Newey and Verstappen both potentially available at the same time, it wouldn’t be outside of the realm of possibility for them to arrive at Mercedes as a package deal.
