The third season of Netflix’s popular Formula 1 documentary series ‘Drive to Survive’ will feature George Russell’s Mercedes debut at the Sakhir Grand Prix.

The third season of ‘Drive to Survive’ will be released on March 19, just after pre-season testing (that will be held in Bahrain from March 12 until March 14), and only nine days ahead of the start of the 2021 Formula 1 season.

The third season of the series will provide a look at the historic condensed 2020 F1 season that was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The production started even before the pandemic caused the start of the season to be delayed, and continued to cover the intrigue that ensued.

The Netflix cameras have captured Lewis Hamilton’s history-making 2020 achievements, like breaking the most F1 wins record that was held by Michael Schumacher and winning his seventh world championship.

What might be most interesting for Mercedes fans is the behind the scenes coverage of the Sakhir Grand Prix, which saw Lewis Hamilton sidelined with COVID-19 and Mercedes junior driver George Russell stepping into his vacant car.

A statement from Formula 1 said the third season of ‘Drive to Survive’ is “the most dramatic season to date” that will take fans “behind the scenes, to witness first-hand how the drivers and teams battle it out for victory in a year like no other”.

The full trailer for Season 3 will be released in the coming weeks, but for now you can watch a short teaser below.
