Sergio Perez says he thinks Lewis Hamilton “did the best he could” to get out of his way in Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying, but he still expects him “to get a penalty”.
After Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying, Lewis Hamilton has been summoned to the stewards for allegedly impeding Sergio Perez in Q1.
While the Briton was on a slow lap, Perez came up behind him on a flying lap, which led to the two almost coming together.
This led to Perez saying over his team radio, “What the f*** is this idiot doing?“, while Hamilton said he was ”well out of his way”.
After the session Perez said he expects Hamilton to get a penalty.

“[Lewis] has tried his best [to get out of the way], but unfortunately, we just ended up in the wrong [place] at the wrong time,” the Mexican driver said.
“The stewards have been really strict this year, and I’ve got penalties for a lot worse than that, so I do expect him to get a penalty, unfortunately.
“I think he did the best he could, and there probably should be a little more [margin given] in that regard, but it is what it is,” Perez concluded.
