Toto Wolff says Lewis Hamilton is “in a situation obviously where on one side it’s super frustrating to see that we are not getting it”, and “on the other side, look over the fence and it’s pretty good what’s happening there”.
Mercedes has been having a lot of performance issues in the first three race of the 2024 season, so after the Australian Grand Prix, team boss Toto Wolff was asked how his drivers are coping with the situation.
Toto’s explanation was especially interesting in light of Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 move to Ferrari.
“I think the drivers are super in this whole set-up, because Lewis is as good as he can be,” the Austrian said.

“He’s in a situation obviously where on one side it’s super frustrating to see that we are not getting it.
“On the other side, look over the fence [at Ferrari] and it’s pretty good what’s happening there. But that is not his main priority today.
“And George [Russell] is just a fighter and he’s digging in and he knows that’s his place.
“So, we’ve got to sort this out,” Wolff concluded.
