Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says “people make up meetings, make up what’s happening with the drivers, but these things should be behind closed doors”.
Last week, F1 Insider reported that Max Verstappen’s camp is set to hold talks with Mercedes in Miami and Imola.
According to this report, the talks were supposed to be held between Max, his father Jos and his manager Raymond Vermeulen on one side, and Mercedes F1 Team boss Toto Wolff, chairman of the board of management of Mercedes-Benz Group and Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius and INEOS chairman and CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe on the other.
While attending an event for Mercedes’ partner WhatsApp in New York, where he was joined by Lewis Hamilton, team boss Toto Wolff said there is no truth to these rumours.

“No, that’s one of the rumours,” the Austrian told Reuters TV.
“People make up meetings, make up what’s happening with the drivers, but these things should be behind closed doors.
“And everything that’s been out there was not really the right thing,” Wolff concluded.
