Lewis Hamilton is facing an investigation by the stewards for an alleged DRS technical infringement after taking P1 in Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying.
After the Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying the FIA sent out a bulletin in which technical delegate Jo Bauer suspects an infringement with the DRS on Hamilton’s car.
“The uppermost rear wing element adjustable positions were checked on car number 44 for compliance with Article 3.6.3 of the 2021 Formula One Technical Regulations,” reads the bulletin.
“The requirement for the minimum distance was fulfilled. But the requirement for the maximum of 85mm, when the DRS system is deployed and tested in accordance with TD/011-19, were not fulfilled.
“I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration.”
If Mercedes is found guilty, Lewis might be excluded from the qualifying results, which means he would have to start tomorrow’s sprint race from the back of the grid.

On top of that he already has a five-place grid penalty for the main race on Sunday, because his car took on a new Internal Combustion Engine.
UPDATE: The hearing has been adjourned until the morning:
“The Stewards have adjourned the hearing relating to Document 18 of the 2021 FIA Formula 1 São Paulo Grand Prix as they await further evidence that will not be available until the morning,” read a statement from the FIA.
Until then, the wing has been removed and impounded by the FIA:
“The Stewards hereby order the Technical Delegate to supervise the removal of the rear wing assembly of Car 44, and to impound this part under seal.
“Further, the Technical Delegate is to supervise the transition of Car 44 into overnight conditions, permitting only those actions needed to store the car.”
UPDATE 2: The stewards have decided to exclude Lewis Hamilton from qualifying after a DRS rules breach, and he will start the sprint race from the back of the grid.
