Toto Wolff says the Mercedes team “just love” Lewis Hamilton, and “will continue to love him”, so “whether he’s in a red overall or doing something else, he’ll always be part of this family”.
After Mercedes announced that young Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli will replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes in 2025, team boss Toto Wolff opened up about the team’s relationship with the seven-time champion.
“It’s been 12 years and we’ve grown together like brothers,” the Austrian said.

“We’ve had our difficult moments which were very important to, in a way, agree how open and transparent we would be with each other.
“Now the decision is clear, we’re going for Kimi, everything is open. The team just love [Lewis] and will continue to love him.
“Whether he’s in a red overall or doing something else, he’ll always be part of this family,” Wolff concluded.
