Lewis Hamilton is at risk of a penalty, after he has been summoned by the stewards for an alleged yellow flags breach and “unnecessary impeding” Nikita Mazepin.

Lewis Hamilton will have to meet with the stewards one hour before the start of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Qualifying for allegedly “not respecting double waved yellow flags/lights at 17:22”.

This means Hamilton could be at a risk of a five-place grid penalty, which is what Max Verstappen got at the Qatar Grand Prix for the same offence.

The FIA International Sporting Code says drivers are required to “reduce your speed significantly, do not overtake, and be prepared to change direction or stop” when double-waved yellow flags are shown.

Hamilton and Mercedes team manager Ron Meadows have also been summoned to the stewards for “unnecessary impeding” Nikita Mazepin.

Lewis was driving slowly in FP3 when Mazepin came up behind him. Thankfully the crash was avoided.

UPDATE: The FIA announced Lewis will not be penalised for the yellow flags incident.

UPDATE 2: The FIA announced Lewis has received a reprimand to the Mazepin incident, while Mercedes received a fine.
