After the Miami Grand Prix Sprint Race, Fernando Alonso says Lewis Hamilton “ruined the race for a few people”, but he won’t get penalized “because he’s not Spanish”.
At the beginning of the Miami Grand Prix Sprint Race, there was a big Turn 1 clash between Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll and Lando Norris, which resulted in a DNF for Norris.
The stewards did not investigate the incident, but after the race Alonso blamed Hamilton.
Asked whether he expected the stewards to penalize Hamilton, the Spaniard said they won’t because “he’s not Spanish”, obviously referring to his own penalty in China that Aston Martin lodged an appeal against.
“We’ll see what they decide,” Alonso told DAZN.
“I guess they won’t decide anything, because he’s not Spanish. But, I think he ruined the race for a few people, especially Norris, who had a very fast car and he was out in that incident.”

Alonso further stated that he avoided taking risks in the race, in fear of getting another penalty.
“Maybe today I didn’t get penalised, but I always get penalised. Today the same thing.
“I was behind Ocon, I could maybe take a risk and overtake him, but logically I don’t take the risk to avoid being penalised.
“So, I tried to complete the race, which is 19 laps, and go back to the team to talk about the changes,” he concluded.
Interestingly, Lewis did get penalized after the race, for speeding in the pitlane during the Safety Car period, which demoted him from P8 to P16. So, it seems you can get a penalty even if you’re not Spanish.
