After a collision with Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso compained of an ‘anti-Spanish’ bias within the FIA. He now confirms he talked to FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
At the beginning of the Miami Grand Prix Sprint Race, there was a big Turn 1 clash between Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll and Lando Norris, which resulted in a DNF for Norris.
The stewards did not investigate the incident, but after the race Alonso blamed Hamilton and said he won’t get penalized because “he’s not Spanish”.
He later said he would speak to FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem about this perceived ‘anti-Spanish bias’.
“I do feel that nationality matters, and I will speak with Mohammed, with the FIA, whatever,” Alonso said.
“I need to make sure there is not anything wrong with my nationality or anything that can influence any decision, not only for me also for the future generation of the Spanish drivers they need to be protected,” he concluded.

He was later seen speaking to Ben Sulayem and when asked if the talks were productive, the Spaniard said:
“I spoke with him and he’s always on board on every opinion that the drivers have.
“He knows that we are the ones driving the cars and that we can have some suggestions on things.
“There are a couple of points that we need to address as a sport, but he has always listened to us.
“Let’s see if we make F1 a better sport and a little bit more consistent,” Alonso concluded.
