RacingNews365 reports they have gathered information “from trusted technical sources” that point to a possible reason for Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari.

While the official announcement is yet to be released, it seems that Lewis Hamilton making a switch to Ferrari in 2025 is a done deal.

Considering how Lewis has often stated that he intends to finish his career with Mercedes, many are stunned by this sudden unexpected move.

While speculation is running rampant online regarding the reasons that led to Lewis’ decision to leave the team, RacingNews365.com reports that they have “gathered information from trusted technical sources” that point to a specific situation that could have pushed the Briton to make the switch to Ferrari.

The situation in question is the departure of Mercedes’ Head of Vehicle Performance Loïc Serra, who is expected to join the Italian team for the 2025 season.

RacingNews365 reports that Serra was not happy with Mercedes’ development direction for their 2022 and 2023 cars, which put him at odds with the team’s Technical Director at the time Mike Elliott.

In 2023, however, James Allison has returned to the role of technical director, while Elliott switched to the role of Chief Technical Officer. Later that year Elliott left Mercedes altogether.

Allison reportedly wanted Serra to be a part of the team’s new technical leadership, but the deal with Ferrari was already done.

Serra is expected to arrive at Ferrari with a group of technicians that RacingNews365 claims were “unavailable to Allison for months”.

Whether Serra’s departure and subsequent arrival at Ferrari are part of the reason for Hamilton’s switch is hard to say, but it does seem to be an interesting possibility, and RacingNews365 claims their sources believe it to be true.
