BBC Sport reports that Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is not willing to meet Adrian Newey’s salary demands, and he now seems closer to Aston Martin and McLaren.
Adrian Newey says “here are some drivers, like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, who I would have loved to work with, but so far it has not been the right place or time in terms of us coming together”.
Andrew Shovlin says “the fact that we haven’t had a competitive car made it difficult for Lewis, because he is a driver who is just born to win races”.
Mercedes’ Technical Director James Allison says the way that the team was “working in the previous set of rules” was not well-suited for “the new world”.
Andrew Shovlin says: “We’re delivering on the mechanical side, we’re delivering in terms of weight, in terms of getting a car that works around a range of conditions, and managing the tyres better.”
Andrew Shovlin says at the start of 2024 Mercedes was “determined to go out on a high with Lewis” so the British GP win was a “massively important result”.
